RESEARCH PROGRAMMES

The PEIMA site at Sizun

PEIMA supports the activities of INRA research units but also of other organisations or universities in the framework of multi-disciplinary approaches. Some call upon European teams, especially in the Aquaexcel project. The work performed at PEIMA deals with multi-disciplinary research issues that address all parts of the fresh-water salmonid sector. PEIMA sets up experiments that our partners lead at the national level in research units. They combine skills in genetics (genomics, quantitative genetics), physiology (growth, reproduction, and behaviour), nutrition and even pathology. Collaborations with agricultural education and the aquacultural section of technical institutes allow more applied types of experiments to be set up. The production-system approaches and issues surrounding management of fish effluents are directed by PEIMA.
